A Fever. The Fervour!

The still air,
hot, dry and dejected,
reminds of the fever last night.
Where... when,
in a mindless act of restlessness,
the citizen, a protagonist,
took an umbrella,
stood on the terrace,
and sang the rain song,
cried for childhood!

It was windless even then,
but the trees swayed,
a dance, a trance,
to the tune of
amendments made in haste,
in hatred, in apathy...
Oh, the fervour.
Fever it is,
in the many shades of skin,
in the diverse layers of nationhood.

Ode to the Dying Night

Morning, good!
The dying night
I cry for,
it drags away
my dreams with it,
to purgatory,
where the lust
is retained,
desires n myths too.
And purity?
That's purged
in a summer bonfire.

Summer Morning

The cold blanket
of haze
I saw in your eyes
has cleared,
replaced by a bright spark,
summer they call it...

But I christen it lust;
I love it
for the bright lights
make you bold;
relentless, stubborn,
annoyingly bold.

The Dying Winter

The clearing fog...
The receding moisture
from your eyes;
the sun, occasional,
playing a heavenly hide n seek.
The small drops of passion...
Dew in the morn,
sweat at high noon,
whiskey at twilight,
and sleepless at midnight.

The Sale

Summer sale on for winter wear,
I just can't wait for that
retail salesman and his
market theory that always wins.

At sultry Chennai, it's a jest,
but I'm hell bent on
buying that glossy jacket
to sweat n cook in it...

As it's winter here for me, in May,
middle of the great Indian summer;
where is my soda lemonade?
That boy drank it all, years back!

Hollow Music!

The morning song this day
was dry like the withered branch
of the speaking tree
just outside my window.

It maybe the summer heat,
or is it this headache?
That turned your voice
coarse n bitter, between stale breath.

Maybe it's the curse of the lost
Spanish Hollow I played with ease,
my fingers strumming in blind passion,
knowing its every sigh...

The music flows still,
a meaningless, lustful tide;
the senseless tunes composed
by the devil at large, the fallen one.
